An X post reports that Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno reaffirmed the importance of physical games. Although digital is easier and cheaper, he reportedly said discs create an emotional link between player, game and studio. Broken Mirror Games executive director Tymon Smektala also described ownership and physical collecting as central to their generation’s gaming identity.
Babieno reportedly added that the industry had reached a ceiling in visual and auditory fidelity: small lighting or resolution gains do not guarantee more engaging gameplay. He said physical media would always remain and most players still use hardware five to seven years old.
A producer’s perspective
If the team prioritised disc production, it might postpone or reduce resources for digital updates or cloud platform support. The actual impact would require the disc manufacturing budget and expected digital sales share.
