Tenebris Somnia launches on 16 October 2026 with live-action cutscenes
New Blood Interactive’s retro survival horror reaches Xbox Series X|S and PC, integrating filmed scenes into gameplay.
Tenebris Somnia launched on 16 October 2026. Players control Julia, a young woman plagued by nightmares about her former boyfriend, in this retro survival horror. Created by Andrés Borghi and Saibot Studios and published by New Blood Interactive, it mixes pixel-art play with live-action scenes featuring real actors.
It is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing both platforms at no extra cost. The listed price is $24.99, discounted to $19.99. Cutscenes are not mere interludes: they trigger unpredictably during play and move directly into fights or new story scenes.
A producer’s perspective
Unpredictably triggered live action is the documented detail. Synchronising filmed video and pixel-art mechanics could require extra testing cycles and risk Xbox certification delays. Assessment requires editing and transition-specific QA staffing, plus development schedule buffers.
