SteamOS 3.9.3 Beta released to Beta and Preview channels
The update fixes game performance, improves hardware support and updates Arch Linux and Plasma.
Valve released SteamOS 3.9.3 Beta for Beta and Preview channels. Users can enable it under Settings > System > System Update Channel. Notes include changes since stable 3.8 and earlier 3.9 previews.
Fixes address STAR WARS: Galactic Racer performance, The Crew Motorfest GPU errors and audio bugs when connecting monitors in multi-monitor setups. Support for the Steam Frame wireless adapter improves and Android binder IPC returns. Arch Linux is updated and Desktop Mode moves from Plasma 6.4.3 to 6.7.3.
A producer’s perspective
Beta and Preview distribution could move some testing to users while leaving less internal time to verify uncommon hardware. Steam Frame adapter support might introduce undiscovered regressions. Assessment requires early-adopter crash rates and testing coverage for edge-case configurations.
