Steam updates achievements with a new editor and sets

The tools add CSV import/export and archiving for achievements no longer obtainable.

On 15 October 2026, Steam released a revamped achievement editor. It supports bulk creation and management, importing and exporting definitions, icons and translations through CSV files and images. Bulk Move shifts multiple achievements between sets; locked icons can be automatically generated in greyscale, and missing translations trigger an internal warning.

Achievement Sets group achievements by DLC, characters, modes or seasons. Team-only sets allow testing conditions before release. Unobtainable achievements or whole sets can be archived: they stay visible to those who unlocked them, disappear for others and do not block completion. Sets require no game or SDK changes. The editor is in the app’s Steamworks Stats and Achievements section.

A producer’s perspective

CSV formatting errors or missing translations could make bulk set releases require extra reviews and QA work. Assessing risk needs external developers’ import-error rates and average correction time.
