Rumour: Smyths Toys UK lists two Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 variants with different batteries
Listings give different dates, with only the later version specifying a replaceable battery.
This is a rumour attributed to the stated source. Its contents have not been verified as an official announcement.
A Reddit report says Smyths Toys UK posted two listings for the Nintendo Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary edition. The first, dated 29 October 2026, does not mention a replaceable battery; a later listing dated 5 November explicitly specifies a removable one.
A purchasing-team reply quoted in the post says SKU 266502, the 5 November version, has the replaceable battery, while SKU 265573, dated 29 October, does not. Pre-orders are sold out, so existing customers might receive the non-removable version.
A producer’s perspective
Parallel hardware variants could fragment stock and confuse consumers. Evaluating this requires production plans and unit quantities assigned to each version.
